| For
many foreign workers, achieving permanent
resident status (the so-called “green card”) is extremely
important. This can be a complex and lengthy process, subject to
case law and national quotas. Consequently, we strongly advise the
applicant to seek the assistance of a professional immigration
attorney. The University, as employer, has several direct responsibilities. The aforementioned responsibilities will be handled by both the University Counsel and the International Student & Scholar Office, and I am the primary contact person. The purpose of this document is to provide general policies and procedures for unit chairs and directors and for foreign workers. Please contact
me with your
questions.
