Foreign nationals may enter the U.S. as nonimmigrant to engage in academic studies subject to certain restrictions.

Non-tenure track employment is permitted under a variety of options, including: 

  • Assistantships 
  • Fellowships
  • Internships
  • Post-completion employment
On-campus Employment
In general, employment during the student's course of study (pre-degree completion) is limited to 20 - hours per week during the semester.  Full time employment can be authorized during the vacation and break periods. On-campus employment while a student is authorized through the ISSS.

Off-Campus Employment

The Department of Homeland Security via an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) authorizes off-campus employment.

Full-time Employment Upon Completion of Studies
Only the DHS via the employment authorization document can authorize  full-time employment for up to one year following the completion of studies. No tenure-track appointments can be offered.   Please contact the ISSS for advice (Telephone: 330 - 672 - 7980).

F- 2 visa holders: Dependents of an F- 1 visa holder are not authorized to work in the U.S.
