Assignments/Listening
When will I know my assignment?
We try our best to have all assignments made by May 5. You will receive your assignment via email.
If I am playing a solo, is there piano accompaniment?
Yes, please remember to bring your accompaniment music and hand it in at registration for our staff accompanist. Rehearsal times will be available. Please look on the bulletin board for a rehearsal schedule.
Does my son/daughter need all of the supplemental materials?
All campers need the Barret and Ferling method books. Since all the orchestral excerpts can be printed from our Resources, the Rothwell excerpt books are not mandatory although they are a good investment. For students planning on a career in music, it is always best to have complete orchestral parts. For solo material, bring the pieces you have, don't worry about having every single piece.
How do I listen to excerpts online?
Go to the oboe camp website. Click on “Resources”. Click on the 2009 Orchestral Excerpt Assignment link. You will then be directed to a Kent State University Library page that requires a login I.D. and password. This information is provided as part of your assignment email. Once you are logged in, the exerpts are listed alphabetically by composer. To download the printable music, click on the PDF symbol. To listen, click on the speaker symbol.
