KSU Bioterrorism Preparedness Response

Regulation:

On June 12, 2002, Public Law 107-188 "Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002" was signed into law. This law requires the University to register with the Centers for Disease Control and to file an inventory of Select Agents. The law also imposes a host of regulatory requirements on individuals using select agents.

The Office of Research Safety (ORS), with the cooperation of Principal Investigators in August, 2002 determined that no research was being conducted with Select Agents and destroyed all old stocks of Select Agents and High Consequence of Livestock Pathogens and Toxins.

Any future use of Select Agents by PIs at Kent State will require submittal of Select Agent Registration forms and compliance with the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act.
